What is energy efficiency?
Energy efficiency is one of the primary objectives set by the European Union member states to be achieved by 2020. The aim of reducing energy consumption should result in a three-fold positive impact: it will reduce dependency on fossil fuels, decrease the levels of CO2 emissions, and lastly, according to the European Commission, create one million jobs in related sectors. This package of actions to foster more efficient energy consumption means looking at energy needs in a different way. Solutions put in place must henceforth have a global reach and extend in particular to architecture, urban planning, energy generation, lighting, mobility and transport, management and recycling of waste, and heating. This is the commitment of the SUEZ Group, whose specialties and strategic priorities today include working closely with all of its customers, companies and groups to seek ways in which to save energy and share the fruits of more efficient energy use.
